Early Career
Boady Robert Santavy was born on May 22, 1997, in Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, into a family deeply rooted in the sport of weightlifting. His grandfather, Bob Santavy, competed in two Olympic Games and won medals at Pan American and Commonwealth competitions, and his father Dalas also represented Canada internationally. Growing up around the sport, Boady began training at a young age and quickly showed promise on the junior circuit.
As a youth competitor he earned medals at the Pan American Youth Championships and progressed through national titles before stepping onto the senior international stage. His early years laid the foundation for a career defined by strength, precision, and technical excellence.
Breakthrough and Achievements
Santavy became one of Canadaโs most prominent weightlifters through consistent international performances. At the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, he finished fourth in the menโs 96โฏkg event, missing a medal by just one kilo after leading the snatch portion of the competition. That placement was the best by a male Canadian weightlifter at the Olympics in decades.
He also competed at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games in the menโs 89โฏkg division. Although he did not register a total there, the backโtoโback Olympic appearances confirmed his status among elite global lifters.
Santavy has medaled at major regional competitions, including silver at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and the 2019 Pan American Games. He set multiple Canadian records in both the snatch and clean and jerk, reflecting his topโlevel strength outputs across weight classes.

Path to Enhanced Games
In September 2025 Santavy was announced as the first weightlifter and first Canadian athlete confirmed for the inaugural Enhanced Games in Las Vegas, set for May 2026. This marks a new chapter in his career, taking him beyond traditional federation competition into an event where performance enhancement under medical supervision is permitted.
Enhanced Games promises significant financial incentives for world records and victories, presenting both opportunity and controversy for participants. Santavyโs inclusion brings weightlifting expertise into the fold and signals his readiness to test limits in a novel competitive environment.
What to Expect in Las Vegas
Santavy arrives in Las Vegas as one of the most experienced lifters on the roster. His strength, technical proficiency, and recordโsetting lifts give him a solid platform for competition.
Under the Enhanced Games framework, where medical support for performance optimization is part of the format and bonuses await record breakers, Santavy could redefine his personal bests. Regardless of outcome, his presence will be closely watched by fans and commentators as a key storyline in the evolution of this new sporting event.
